I had just spent the entire night leaning against my car, in front of a very suburban house, talking with one of my best friends. The stop at the restaurant just seemed to fit, but I never expected to hear what I did. The conversation came after a long series of, honestly, annoyingly loud cell phone beeps and really took me by surprise. I'll (of course) paraphrase: "Hi [inaudible name] ... Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. ... I got your letter and it was real good to hear from you. ... I just wanted to let you know that I'm making out a will. ... I'm going to start fighting again and I just want to have all my belongings sorted out, in case -- God forbid -- something happens in the ring. ... Yeah, I may be fighting a couple guys: one is [forgotten name] -- which is big -- and the other is Carlos...some Mexican name. But he's been training for the army and sounds pretty tough. ...
