"i could leave tonight. you won't even notice. drive straight to the airport. a simple transaction...i dream of paris. the thought of a better day. just knocks me off my feet." - Cross My Heart, Paris
Replace "Paris" with "Ohio" (or New York or anywhere on the East Coast for that matter) and you've got me.

GOSSIP
Word on the street is that Telemundo (yes, spanish TV out of Flordia) is going to be doing a feature on Skrappy's and are going to be at the ZAO show that I'm doing. Nutty. I better brush up on my espanol.

Much love given out but none to Nick...ah well. Guess I don't hang with those good times kids as much as I should or vice versa. I'll write him an email.

Strange dreams and sleeping in various rooms and slipping in and out of consciousness were the themes of my night. Here's what I saw or "was told" during this crazy night: A quotable quote maybe? "In the physical world, our heart is where our hands are. In the spiritual world, our hands are where our heart is." Don't ask what the deeper meaning is. It was just words that a creepy dying/melting old man told me in my dream. Secondly, my last dream of the night/morning involved me getting the Jimmy Eat World update email and, in seeing that there was an open date for Tucson, booking them in this town. A sign perhaps...

Yesterday my parents celebrated their 21st anniversary. If their marriage was a kid, it could now drink alcohol.

I made it back from Phoenix fine and this time I only spent $35 on records. I'm going to be broke soon if I keep spending like this. I think I may be coming down with a cold too so I'm not going to the party that I was planning on. Ick.

In Phoenix at the moment putting out flyers, metting with business associates (boy doesn't that sound tech) and struglling with awful traffic. It's good fun. Currently I'm at Kinko's connecting at high speeds and killing a little bit of time. I just felt I had to get a log in from some exciting place. I had witty and clever, maybe even profound things to write about while I was in my car, but once I started up the computer my brain popped.

Though I'm not a fan, I was interested that this guy was on the Craig Kilborn show tonight. I didn't even hear about it and by some strange coincidence I turned on the Late Late Show just to see if the musical guest was bearable. I'll probably tape it and watch it in the morning.

I went to my old Kinko's this evening for the first time since I had quit almost two months ago. A little worried about seeing old faces and getting wierd vibes, I walked in to make the flyers that I'd need for my Phoenix excursion tomorrow. Being greeted by "Oh my God, it's Nick...Oh my God, you're hair is so long." and "Heeyyy, Nick!" really eased my tensions and small conversations with my old co-workers made me smile. I even felt a little hint of missing the place. Even so, I'm glad I'm not working a real job right now. It's been giving me the time and space I've needed to learn how to be a real person again.

Some guys say, "Girls are crazy." I disagree and would like to clarify. This is a generalization and as we all know, there are hardly any absolutes in this world. Rather, some girls are crazy. The rest are completely sane but there are just some girls you have to worry about. Tonight, I went do dinner with my friend Alicia. Now, she is a really nice girl and I love her like a sister but dinner made me laugh about her logic: First we agreed on Mexican. We would meet at my house and drive to the restaraunt together. Not ten minutes later, I get a call from her asking that we get healthier food and she's not in the mood for enchiladas, tacos, or anything else from south-of-the-border. I go with it and agree to meet at a nicer, better-for-you type restaraunt. When we arrive, we look over the menus. She puts hers down and tells me she's going to get her usual: Nachos.

Quote from a Steve Martin book I recently read: "Ray is looking for someone. But he needs to be killed off several times by getting in too deep with the wrong person; he needs to break a heart and know that he has caused it, and to experiance the sudden loss of interest that can occur within hours of a high peak of desire." It's the second one that scares me.

Hey Larissa, guess who I caught on MTV?
Hey Troy, I had a good name but have forgotten it now. I'll figure it out again.
Hey USPS, where's my dang mail?
Hey you, yeah you. Email me. I don't care who you are, but I would like to get some email from you. Please?

Why did I ever sign up for chemistry? I don't need it for anything that I would want to go into and it's just not as exciting as I had remembered it to be in high school. In fact, not only have I hated my chem lab for a while, but I'm beginning to despise the lecture class as well. The dilemma lies in the fact that I can't drop the class because I would no longer be considered "a full time student" and thus would no longer be covered under my parents health insurance plan. Lame.

A random IM to a friend I had been intending to call, swiftly typed out directions, a fire to go out and enjoy life and an empty calendar found me driving to a party for some girl I hardly knew earlier tonight. I was a little nervous that I wouldn't know a great deal of people there, but as I walked through the door all my fears rested their weary heads. Many people recognized me and shouted hey's and what's up's before I could even look around the room. Now, despite the optimistic beginnings I soon came back to the harsh realization that I was still not good at parties. Now, I will admit that karaoke (yes, singing along to retro pop songs) has never been my thing and I could blame my non-confidence on that, but if I was truly good in that kind of social environment, I could have asserted myself in other ways. I still had a fun time, but I think that my lack of doing things let other people down.

Oh, and it's almost 1AM and I have class at 9. That's 8 hours away.

Gotta get this quote out: I've been reading and watching a lot of Steve Martin lately and he seems to always have some good, quotable phrases. Most authors do though, it's what sets them apart from the rest of us unpublished folk I suppose. In any case, here it is. "He never complicates a desire by overthinking it, unlike Mirabelle, who spins a cacoon around an idea until it is immoble." It reminds me of someone I know...probably why I like it so much.

Blue sky, sun, clouds, at night: stars or the glow of the city lights on the storm-fronts. Things I've been noticing lately that I had to completely ignore for over two months. I would squint walking out of class and literaly curse the sun, wishing the sky would just swallow me whole. Now though, it is all so clear, so incredible. I see life in full, ahead of me. All of my childhood dreams. This page, the way it is now, kind of "says" all this. It is good.
