I'm currently watching The Jerk for the second time in as many days and also--for the second time in as many days--find myself marveling at, not just the comic genius of the man, but the underlying themes and statements expressed in the movie as well: the realization of marrying the perfect girl, finding yourself in the "real" world, and, to the point of reckless abandon, following where life's road takes you. It's all of my (and I'm sure many other's) perfect dreams and aspirations placed into rediculous situations. To "be somebody" is a common theme throughout Steve Martin's various works. Amazing.

these days are getting shorter as october falls and with it come the coldest memories i own and like the leaves that fall from trees my dreams come slow as if to say to me that i should let it go

I left for Flagstaff with about 3 changes of clean clothes, an acoustic guitar, a sleeping bag and the highest hopes for the weekend at hand. I returned to Tucson late this evening with a messy car, 3 changes of dirty clothes and the renewed hopes and dreams for the next four years of my life. Who could ask for anything more?

I leave tomorrow around three in the afternoon and this trip has had the complete opposite effect on me then what I had hoped: I'm now more confused about school and love and life then I was before I left. It can't be a good thing. I want more than ever to go to school here at NAU but I know that it will complicate life a ton...[again, writing before thinking about what I want to say- never good].
